REBECCA CLARKE

Triathlete (Auckland)

Bec's grew up near the ocean and has been a water baby her whole life. Her love for swimming translated into competitive swimming throughout high school and then into triathlons after completing at Bachelor of Physical Education at University of Otago. She has worked as a swim instructor for several years and believes it is a valuable life skill all New Zealanders should have and therefore be able to enjoy the beautiful ocean we have surrounding our country.

She has been racing as a professional triathlete the last four years, which has been an amazing journey, challenge and adventure. After a break last year she now juggles racing elite with a full-time job as a sports administrator at a college. Her focus for the upcoming season is half ironman distance. She is racing Sunshine Coast 70.3 in September then a busy line-up from December to January with Taupo 70.3, Tauranga Half and Wanaka Half.

When we quizzed her Bec's said "I love the unique, bright prints of Zeenya tights, my current favourite is Tranquilo. I like the variety of them that I can use them for working out, day to day and can also wear my active wear at work!!"

A fav quote of hers which has helped her tackle challenges during her triathlon career is "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog" – Mark Twain.
